Hi, and thank you for visiting NVYus Beauty and especially visiting this page.  I love the fact that you want to learn more about me.  As you already know from the title, I’m Kia Castille, owner and operator of NVYus Beauty.  I’ve been in love with the beauty industry since I was a little girl, playing in my mother’s makeup so having the opportunity to turn my love into a business is like a dream come true.

I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD.  Growing up, my parents tried to afford me every opportunity to succeed.  I attended private schools and was introduced to my other passion…dance.  I absolutely loved dancing…and still do.  The icing on the cake was that I had a legit excuse to put on a full face of makeup for the recitals and competitions…a win/win!!!  I loved it so much that while a senior in high school, I made it as a finalist to be a Baltimore Stallions (Canadian Football League) cheerleader.  I was definitely disappointed when I wasn’t chosen, but that led me to the University of MD Eastern Shore.  At UMES, I had some of the best experiences of my life.  I had the opportunity to continue dancing with the school’s dance troupe Ambiance, spend a year in NYC at the Fashion Institute of Technology, intern with Betsy Johnson and other designers, work backstage at NY’s Fashion Week, and go to Paris and London.  After graduating, I started a career in the fashion industry in New York and Connecticut and a few years later, through some tough circumstances, I found myself back in Baltimore wondering what to do next.  Since then, I had several “corporate” jobs that paid well, but I didn’t really feel fulfilled.  I’m a creative, so I needed to create.

Looking for an outlet to be creative, the lightbulb finally went off.  I get compliments on my makeup all the time and I love trying out new products and finding innovative ways to use them, so I enrolled in B.E.A.T. School of Makeup Artistry to become a certified makeup artist.  Finally, I’ve found my calling!!!  Since becoming certified and starting NVYus Beauty, I’ve had the opportunity to showcase my artistry at the Miss Maryland United States Pageant, Miss World America Pageant, an independent film, various fashion shows in the MD/DC area, and of course “beating” faces for weddings, proms, anniversaries, etc.

I have a very supportive husband and two beautiful daughters whom I cherish dearly.  It’s really important to me to make sure I show my girls the importance of working hard and following their dreams.  My legacy to them is just not economic, but also being a shining example of what’s possible when you dream BIG.

Thanks again for taking the time to read my story and hope to see you in my makeup chair in the near future!
